As 2017 approaches and the 2017 Average Hunter St. Jude Hat Auction comes near, I am beginning to contact everyone I can to build a bigger and better auction. The 2016 auction was a great success and I was amazed by the support I got from all the bidders and sponsors. I truly felt blessed to be a part of such a great community. But, although it was such a hit last year, that just means I am going to push even harder this year to keep it growing.
St. Jude to me is so much more than just a hospital that takes care of kids. It’s a hospital that takes care of the families of these kids also. Did you know that it takes $2,200,000 per day to operate St. Jude Children’s Hospital? After some simple (not common core) math and that’s @803,000,000 per year and 75% of that comes from private donations. Not only does St. Jude give all these sick kids free medical care that most families wouldn’t be able to afford, they also pay to have these families be with their kids as they are in the hospital. They pay for their travel expenses to wherever they are from to the hospital. Without St. Jude, most of these families wouldn’t be able to be with their sons and daughters as they go thru treatments.
With the vast expenses that St. Jude Children’s Hospital has every year, I just want to do my part in helping a child and their family get thru a tough time that I can’t even imagine going thru.
